What the company is for

Reviving the dignity of trades with a commitment to faithfulness, not just success.

VanderHyde Construction

Michael VanderHyde started the company in 2015, drawing on a West Michigan upbringing in both residential and commercial building. The aim went further than having a job for the team. He wanted to restore some reverence to the trades.

We work alongside other West Michigan trades where it helps the job, and we spend our days sharpening the same skills together and handing them down. What follows is work we finished.

Responsive

Making decisions takes time and there are a lot of choices. We give guidance at every step of the job.

Quality

Our aim is quality that lasts, on every project we take on, inside and out.

Support

Fully licensed and insured, with a seasoned team and a consistently professional approach on site.

Recent projects

Five houses, and what changed in each one.

Grand Rapids House

Westside Renovation

Reshaping this area took real creativity. Slight modifications to the layout of the entry to this home resulted in a significantly more functional space.

Marne House

Country Living

After the expansion of the space we brought in earthy tones and raw materials to emphasize the client’s passion for their rural setting.

Ada House

Ada for the Win

It’s easy to see what draws so many to a life in West MI. After finding the perfect setting remodeling the main floor was next.

Caledonia House

Bright in Caledonia

As with many homes, storage and functionality in this kitchen was at a minimum. Bringing cabinetry all the way up to the tall ceiling and adding a bar made a night and day difference.

Who shows up

Who is actually in your house.

More than 95 percent of your project is carried out by VanderHyde team members, so there is a familiar face on site rather than a rotating cast of subs.

The crew is close-knit, and it stays that way through the job. Demo, framing, tile, trim and the last coat of paint.

How it goes

Three steps, and you are in all of them.

Step one

Consultation and design

We meet to lay out the scope of the project, get into the design details and set the budget parameters. We work closely with homeowners, designers and architects so the project fits what you actually want.

Step two

Project planning

As a design and build firm we handle the design and the project management ourselves, so you stay part of every decision while the job stays inside the budget you set.

Step three

Construction

With more than 95 percent of the project carried out by VanderHyde team members, you get the same people all the way through. The crew works like a family, and your job ends up feeling like an extension of it.

In their words.

Michael has done several jobs for us in the past, and he recently did a large floor fix and installation for us while we were out of town. His company does beautiful work, and we feel very confident going out of town and allowing him to do the job we hired him for in a professional manner. If you want the job done right the first time then call VanderHyde Construction.

We called roughly 15 to 20 different companies for consultation and quotes. VanderHyde was the only one that contacted me when promised after initial contact. Michael was fantastic and he kept every single promise he made from beginning to end. The communication was on point, the workers are friendly and they clean up after themselves.

Michael and his crew recently installed a tile shower, backsplash and a countertop for us. They were professional, knowledgeable, polite, respectful of our home, and cleaned up each day. Michael’s attention to detail, knowledge and expertise were much appreciated and show in the final product.

VanderHyde construction did the most amazing job in building our new screened in porch. The worksite was cleaned up everyday after construction. The quality of workmanship was superb and it was obvious that the carpenters and Michael VanderHyde took pride in their work.
